The precepts of censorship and why Elvis is not a legend

Andrea: Mmm I like how he left and his legacy I guess.

Angie: You like how he had a couple good songs (seemingly considered that he did not author them) and everyone went crazy, he let himself go, got fat and became addicted to drugs only to die of an overdose?

Andrea: No. I like how he didn’t care what anyone thought. He didn’t follow all the rules and was himself no matter what. Till he died.

Angie: He was pathetic. He ended his life before he died.

Andrea: It was not pathetic. He’s a legend. He caused a changed and made a difference

Angie: Don’t you think his legacy was over as soon as it began? He gyrated his thighs and Swiveled his hips. and became the king of rock and roll thanks to American Bandstand. And big mama thorton because white america was not ready for the reality that there were other singers more talented and ready. As usual, a pretty face and a shiny record deal sealed the fate of a musical genre designed by another culture and an era decimated by consumerism and cheap glamour

Andrea: They did not let him perform on band stand and when they finally did, they didn’t shoot all of him. it’s because of him censorship exists now. they would only shoot him from the waist up. And he is still a legend.

Me: I meant the ed sullivan show and you can’t blame some guy with a nice face and a duck tail for censorship. you can thank government and the 4th branch.

Andrea: You can’t blame government. Cause we vote government in. So who is really to blame. Society. And it’s really about them being scared. Scared of the unknown.

Me: We don’t vote government in and we haven’t since the civil war. Thank you very much lobbyists and pork barreling. Political efficacy is limited and thwarted especially in this country of ingrates. But, the most basic forms of censorship are outline in Rosseaus’ and hobbs’ writings. that trickled down to madison’s federalist paper no. 5. men are not angels and must govern other men. therein designating the necessity for a watchdog. that is the leash known as censorship in its most primitive form. Besides, they weren’t afraid of the unknown. It had everything to do with ripping off someone else’s limelight and then not knowing when to step down after your fifteen minutes of fame. You can’t call some idiot who only made a difference by controlling the wet dreams of 15 year old girls a legend. He didn’t know when to step down. They call him the king because like most others with some form of authoritative power, be it over an era in the life span of the music business or a sovereign nation, he didn’t get a clue that his reign was over before the dynasty began.

Ps. James Dean was much cooler :P
